ABOUT XFMU

The XFMU mailing list and archive were launched in March 2001 in response to a backlash against the character of John Doggett, who joined the show in Season 8. "Doggett-hater" websites sprang up, and stories with Doggett in them were banned from some lists and archives -- which Lara Means thought was just silly. So she created a sanctuary of sorts for Doggett, who was quickly joined by his Season 9 partner, Monica Reyes.

In May 2003, XFMU expanded to include all the new characters of Seasons 8 & 9 -- Brad Follmer, Knowle Rohrer, Shannon McMahon, Leyla Harrison, Barbara Doggett, Luke Doggett, William Scully Mulder, even Jimmy Bond and Yves Adele Harlow from The Lone Gunmen series -- in addition to Doggett and Reyes. All genres, all romantic pairings are accepted here! (Of course, Mulder, Scully, Skinner, Krycek, Kersh and the rest of the folks from Seasons 1-7 are welcome too, as long as at least one of our S8&9 people is in the story)

In the fall of 2007, XFMU expanded again to include other characters of "The X-Files" who are also considered "Unwanted". Now, XFMU proudly archives fanfic including Diana Fowley, Jeffrey Spender, Cigarette-Smoking Man, Alex Krycek, Marita Covarrubias, Mr. X, etc.
